Picking
up the Pieces: A Guide for Supporting Children in Grief
Children
may experience grief in relation to bereavement, family
break-up or other significant change or loss.
This
Program is for:
- Adults
who are in a caring or leadership role, eg: teachers,
carers, sport coaches, health care professionals and others.
- Parents
who may be in a situation where their child is experiencing
grief that the parent does not feel as acutely, eg death
within the school community.
- A
grieving parent who is supporting their grieving child.
This
information will help explain behavioural changes and give
strategies for you to support the child within your role,
responding to them in a way that builds resilience.
ABOUT
GOOD GRIEF
As
an Australian owned, not for profit organisation, Good
Grief assists all members of our community to develop
and deliver services in the area of change, loss and grief.
Good
Grief benefits the community through its ongoing commitment
to the development of a suite of programs and associated
Resource Materials
designed specifically to assist in educating children,
young people and adults to achieve balance in dealing with
change, loss and grief in their lives.
The
focus in all these initiatives is to help people learn how
to experience good grief by addressing change, loss
or grief, not as an end— but the beginning of a new beginning,
to find the ‘good’ in grief and to channel it into creating
greater possibilities.
